9/10/04 Emission Nebula IC1396

At first glance it looks like the Cocoon, or maybe the Trifid nebula, but bright yellow Mu Cepheus reveals it's true identity. This is a HUGE nebula, around 3 full degrees wide, in the constellation Cepheus. I took this shot piggyback on the LX200 using the 55mm camera lens that I picked up off of eBay last year.

Click here for the full size image, it is about 15 degrees high and 10 wide.
