The Horsehead Nebula - posted 1/1/07

Making time to process this November data was a holiday present to myself this year! I love the Horsehead and have shot it every year since I started in this wonderful hobby - that's 5 years now, though I feel like I still have so much to learn and really don't spend the time on it that I did when I first started out. Last year's version was a wide field shot of the whole region that came out nicely but was very difficult to process because of a massive bloom caused by bright Alnitak. No such problems this year as I went back to the narrow field of the SCT. The shot is 20x30 arcminutes in area, and 1.18 arcseconds per pixel in resolution.
