7/1/03 M16 Eagle Nebula

This object is a very dense gas and dust cloud where active star formation is taking place. The Hubble took a close up image that is considered to be the most widely viewed image ever taken - "The Pillars of Creation". Not quite as detailed (!), but there's some interesting structure in my shot of the Eagle Nebula. This thing is definitely RED, the blue and green filter images show almost no detail other than stars, the nebulosity is all in the red and luminescense channels. Both of the last 2 Summers I tried to image M16 and failed. Here she is in 2003.
