The Pelican Nebula - posted 8/23/07

The Pelican nebula is aptly named, it really does look like one! I really wanted to get more data on this subject, the dimmer areas had a lot of noise. But this Summer has had few imaging worthy nights, and I've missed a couple doing crazy things like going on vacation. I finally decided to just process the data that I had. It's an HA G B combo, I added some of the HA to both the green and blue channels to get the nebula and star colors more natural looking. I also used Noel Carboni's PS actions to add the star spikes. I like the look of these when there are large stars in an image, like this one.
