5/12/05 M101 The Pinwheel Galaxy
Yet another in what seems like a rapid succession of galaxies I've shot this season. We had a great night, clear and cold (around 35F). M101 sprawls and is hard for me to image whole. I rotated the camera 90 degrees from it's usual configuration to try to get more of it on the chip. I'm playing with techniques to bring out the star forming regions, I don't really know how to do it. This time I sharpened both the red and blue channels, and used them with the Photoshop Lighten layer property to add highlights to the master LUM image.
